This ferry can be busy, so I'd definitely buy tickets ahead: https://en.lustrabaatane.no/kaupanger-gudvangen
There is parking in Kaupanger, at the ferry quay and other public spots.

How far in advance do you think we should reserve?
We are planning on taking the ferry Aug. 19th.
