We're going to be doing a driving tour of Norway next week. Our itinerary involves taking a few ferries. Does Norway offer discounts for seniors on the ferries? I'm 70 years old & my wife is 68.
What ferries? For foot passengers there is usually a bit discount for those who are retired. But if you bring a vehicle the price depends on the size of the vehicle.
I think Hurtigruten sometimes has a discount for seniors on its off-seson cruises; I believe it's an irregular offering, sort of like deals other cruise lines offer (to anyone) when sales are slow. I don't think there's any concession for seniors on point-to-point tickets.
3 yrs ago, Norled offered senior discount. the ferry from flam, down the Soynefyord to Bergen is approx 4 hrs and was very crowded in June. Thank heavens, we made reservations well in advance. We found all public transport, ferries, bus, train trams, to be on time and would arrive early in some cases. Ferries wait for no one; if they don't see you on the dock, they pass by, Loved every minute of Norway.
