Hi Where can we experience active snowfall and stay in a log cabin or a glass igloo ? The stay will be for 5-6 days in January. We are 3 adults, I (mom) and my 2 daughters. We would like to experience a bit of culture, sledge rides, huskies and just have a good time close to a small town (if possible). Thank you.
It is of course impossible to predict the weather this far in advance. But if a log cabin is important, your safest bet is probably the ski resorts. E.g. Trysil, Geilo or Beitostølen. If it doesn't have to be in Norway, there are also good options in Sweden, e.g. Sälen, Idre, Åre, Tänndalen/Funäsdalen or many more.
Agree to Badger - another option is to fly into North, e. g. Bodø or Tromsø. Also no guarantee but often increased chance.
Read also VisitNorway about winter in Norway and tips for January.
btw: Bodø had first snow fall these days.
Bodø or Tromsø are much worse options. Altitude and distance from the coast are more important than latitude.
Thank you. I am interested in visiting any of the Scandinavian countries. I would love to know, if you have any other suggestions .
