Embarrassed that I can't figure out the ferry schedule!

What I am trying to figure out: That we could take the ferry from Alesund through the fords and on north to Trondheim.

Late September, 2025

Link to Fall Hurtigruten 2025: https://tinyurl.com/49mbp9cb

Does this schedule for HAVILA say it arrives in port at 9:45, then departs 8pm that evening, sailing overnight through Hjorundfjord, which means we couldn't see the surroundings? So Havila is not an option, right?

Hurtigruten says departs Alesund 10am, sails the fjord, then returns to Alesund before heading north?

Last question: Ideally I would love if we could take the ferry one direction, the road the other, to see the fjord from above and below (is that called the Atlantic Road?). I've looked up a couple independent operators but they don't show a September schedule. Is that because they don't run in September, or they don't have a schedule up that far out? I don't think I want to rent a car for this one day expedition.

Thank you!

No, between Sept 1 and Oct 31, it visits Hjørundfjorden during the day on a round-trip from Alesund. Between April 1 and Aug 31 it visits Geiranger.

Scroll down to the ”Arrivals and Departures” section near the bottom of this page which expands the stops
https://www.havilavoyages.com/sailing-schedule

You will see:
Ålesund (01.04-31.10) 09:45-10:00

Geiranger (01.04-31.08) 14:25-14:45

Ålesund (01.04-31.08) 19:00-20:00

Hjørundfjorden (01.09-31.10) 12:15-15:45

Ålesund (01.09-31.10) 18:00-20:00

Be aware:
MS Midnatsol will not sail into Geirangerfjord from 1 June to 28 August 2025. Instead, she will remain moored in Ålesund from 09:45 to 20:00, as per the winter schedule.

The Atlantic Ocean Road is a stretch of spectacular coastal road from Kristiansund towards Molde (which leaves Kristiansund by the deepest under sea tunnel in Norway. maybe Europe) before becoming the stunning coastal drive which it is. It is a diversion but you could easily make that part of a drive from Alesund to Trondheim, The Atlantic Road itself is only 6 or 7 miles long. I think it's worth the divert, But it has nothing to do with the fjord.

EDIT- If you take the Atlantic Ocean Road I suggest taking the time to go over to Haholmen Island- that was something of a highlight for me. I did the road and island as a cruise ship excursion. I don't know if Hurtigruten/Havila do (maybe as a port to port excursion, while the ship sails from Molde to Kristuansund?).
