My wife and I will be driving from Oslo to Bergen in one day in July. Our travel options seem to be either the "Hardangervidda" or the "Aurlandsfjellet" routes.
Both seem to be about the same distance (460 - 480 km) similar travel times (7.5 hours) and neither require ferry crossings. We won't be returning to Oslo - this isn't a round trip. Which route is more delightful?
Hardangervidda to Granvin and road 7 to Norheimsund.
My husband and I are doing the same trip, but we are going back to Oslo. My research has shown that what JZ said is correct, the Hardangervidda route follows the train trip more closely and is the more scenic of the two. We will drive out that way and return the other route. (We are doing this in May, so if I have any strong opinions on the routes, I will update you in June.) Enjoy your trip.
