Connecting Norway to Amsterdam with stopover in Copenhagen June 2026

We are visiting family in Norway from June 1 Oslo 1 night and Ringebu June 2-6; then head to Bergen June 6 for 1 week family excursion. We need to be in Amsterdam for June 17th for our Riverboat cruise but hope to have a one night stopover in Copenhagen. Is this possible?

Travel options? How to book? cost?

Also will need to rent a car in Oslo to drive to Ringebu. suggestions?

Of course it's possible, but if you need a travel agent, you should hire a travel
agent.

People here can offer suggestions, but you need to nail down actual dates to
be able to book.

Start by looking at the map. Bergen is a pretty long way from Copenhagen via land,
so it will most likely be a long train ride. Bergen->Oslo->Copenhagen most likely.
Most likely a full day of riding trains. Or a flight from Bergen nonstop to CPH,
probably an hour or two at the most.

Copenhagen to Amsterdam is more or less the same paradigm, a long train ride or
a short nonstop flight.

matrix.itasoftware.com can give you flight options in a compact manner. thetrainline.com
can give you train options. But you need to make the decisions.

You could take Norway in a Nutshell to Oslo. There is an overnight ferry to Copenhagen from Oslo. You could fly to Amsterdam, or if you haven't run out of days, you could take the train and stay a night along the way.

There is also a ferry from Bergen to Hirsthals, which is in the North of Saeland, and from there you could also make your way to Amsterdam. I have been on that ferry. It is very nice...

But the Bergen - Oslo railway is also worth it. From Oslo you can take a train to Goteborg, where you can change for a train to Copenhagen. As with all train questions start here: www.seat61.com

There is also a ferry from Oslo to Kiel (Germany) for rail connections to Amsterdam (but that of course misses out Copenhagen).

This used to be a bit easier when there was a Copenhagen to Amsterdam overnight train. I've done that several times from England to Norway. If you have already done the Bergen line by day one way you can do the other way by the very nice Norwegian night train from Bergen to Oslo- that connects with a day train to Gothenburg for Copenhagen.
From Copenhagen to Amsterdam (with the loss of the night train) it's a full day with changes through Germany, or the Snalltaget overnight train from Copenhagen to Hamburg (arriving at 5am).

Lots of variant ways to do the journey overland.
