Clothing recommendations for 14 day Scandinavia tour

We will be doing the 14 day Scandinavia tour in August. We are looking for recommendations and what clothing to take from those who have been there around that same time? Thank you in advance for your comments!

A raincoat and a sweater is always a good idea. When we were in Scandinavia in August 2019 it was really hot. We had a couple of days of rainy weather over 3 weeks. None of us in our tour group expected that kind of heat and were unprepared clothing wise. So bring summer clothes.

A little bit off topic, but still relating to clothing….. Look for Fretex stores in the cities you visit. This is the Norwegian version of the Salvation Army. They will have the beautiful Norwegian sweaters at a fraction of the cost of those in tourist shops. I got carried away and bought 4 sweaters in excellent condition last May for less than the price of a one new sweater. Then I returned to my lodging and realized I now had to fit 4 sweaters in my suitcase. Oops! The mission was accomplished. Thank goodness for suitcases that expand.

Scandinavia tour

Much too inconcrete. Scandinavia is huge. Where do you plan to go and what do you plan to do?

Generally onion principle with multiple layers. Special clothing tips for hiking in Norway.

Here's the (rough) itinerary for Rick's 14-day Scandinavia tour:

Stockholm
Kalmar
Aerø
Copenhagen
Southwestern Sweden
Oslo
Somewhere up in the Sognefjord
Bergen

There are quite a few departures in August so I don't know whether the OP is going early or late (or sometime in between!).

I see no polar region, no hikes or high altitudes which is a miss in area such as Sognefjord. Minimum try to catch a view from Stegastein (get there by bus or taxi).

I recommend more or less "warmer" summer clothing (not Mediterranean like) in addition with a light weather jacket (wind and water proof) for days with rain forecast. In the evening hours a pullover is meaningful.

Aerø and Southwestern Sweden can become can get day temperatures around 30s - I also experienced 31° C west of Oslo.
Scandinavians in the capitals normally dress well.

Weather at North Sea coastline can be windy and change quickly. Use local weather forecasts such as yr.no.

Shoes shall be comfortable to walk in - be prepared for slight up-/downhill walks in Bergen. This town is also known for very high number or rain days and rain amounts.

If on or around water on sunny days use sun protection and sun cream.

For my preference I would add more nature to your trip.

Thank you all for the helpful comments! I should've added that we will be spending an additional four days in the Balestrand and Lom Area then back to Oslo to Fly home after the completion of our Rick Steve's Scandinavian tour.

I have been to both areas.
Balestrand: sea level (0 moh)
Lom: ~ +400 moh

If you drive to higher altitudes (fjells) expect lower templeratures and more wind. Rule of thumb: expect - 0.6° to - 0,8 °C every 100 m higher altitude.
