We are planning on driving from Bergen to Skudeneshavn (Karmoy) and back in early June 2018. Karmoy is where my great grandfather is from and we would like to see the ancestral land. We are planning on driving E39 and using the Fjord1 ferry at Halhjem to Sandvikvåg. Has anyone been on this ferry and can you tell me about reservations, cost, etc? Also, any thoughts on the amount of driving time between Bergen and Skudeneshavn? Sights to see, places to stop?

Oh! We are also doing this drive from Bergen to Skuneneshavn, in July!!!!
My understanding is it can be about a 6 to 8 hour drive depending on stops made.
My husbands ancestors are also from this town. He is big into geneaology so we hope to meet up with distant relatives.
It is off the tourist path so hard to find info!
You would not be able to do this in one day!!!!!!
