I'll be in Oslo with the family at the end of July, and am wondering whether it's better to visit the Bygdoy museums on a weekday or weekend? I generally prefer museums on less crowded weekdays, but am wondering whether the Norwegian Folk Museum will have more interesting activities on a weekend day?

In July I doubt that it will make a difference! Height of the tourist season will mean that the Viking ship museum and the Folk Museum next door will be quite busy. I would check the Folk Museum's website to see what kinds of activities will be available during your stay and then visit accordingly.
