We will have a car to go from Denmark to Bergen. Is it ‘better” to drive up thru Oslo and then to Bergen, or to take a ferry from Hirtshals and drive to Bergen, then Oslo (in terms of time, cost and scenery) ?Taking several days to see the fjords in either case. Thanks!
There is no better, only different. It depends a lot in what your interests are.
In terms of scenery, Denmark is a largely flat and agricultural landscape, with wide, sweeping sandy beaches on the West coast.
The Swedish Bohuslen coast us mostly forested with lots of smaller, rocky Island. The Norwegian interrior is mountaines.
Fully agree to Morten. More a question of what you like and want to experience.
The northern Danish North Sea shore has a lot of long sandy beaches and impressive dunes. They moved one of the light houses there (short video) with impressions from surrounding. I like that area very much.
The ferry from Hirtshals to Bergen would make you skipping some very nice landscape areas, e.g. official scenic route "Ryfylke" or one of my personal liked ones "Skien-Rjukan".
On the Swedish coast you will find some interesting places to stop, see this travel day report with map which partially takes that road.
