Buying Norway iin a Nutshell tickets individually

My wife and I are doing the Norway in a Nutshell trip as follows.

6/4/26- Train: Oslo-Myrdal-Flam. Express boat to Balestrand-Staying two nights at the Hotel Balestrand (reservations confirmed).
In Balestrand, we plan to take the express boat to Vik to see the Hopperstad Stave Church and later a glacier excursion.

6/6/26-take the express boat back to Flam. In Flam we plan to stay overnight and rent a car to drive to the Stegastein Viewpoint.
6/7/26-complete the Nutshell trip Flam- Gudvangen-Voss-Bergan.
There are places to stay in Flam and rental cars available but so far, I have not been able to book any of the transportation, I assume the trains and boats are not available yet because it is too early.

Question 1. Does this plan sound reasonable? Questions 2 When will I be able to book the transportation and will I have any trouble securing my dates as stated above. I would like to book the room in Flam and the car now if this sounds reasonable. Any advice or information would be appreciated,

I did the Nutshell route in 2022 with two nights in Flam, but I didn't do anything else you're planning. The Nutshell transportation will be easy to book on your own when the time comes. The Oslo-Myrdal tickets are date- and time-specific and will be less expensive if purchased well in advance. Individual trains can and do sell out, and I believe the Flamsbana can as well. However, those sellouts don't happen months in advance. I don't know exactly when the transportation components will go on sale. This is text I found on the vy.no website:

"You can buy tickets for all trains 115 days before departure, with the exception of the Flåm Railway, where you can buy tickets 120 days before departure.

"There may be shorter sales periods if there is planned work on the train’s route or in connection with route changes, especially in June and December."

Since you're traveling in June, you may need to check for tickets repeatedly.

Others have mentioned bus excursions from Flam (or Aurland?) to the Stegastein viewpoint. A car rental might be cheaper since there are two of you, though I believe car rental in Norway is pricey. If you want to do something else with the car, seeing the Borgund Stave Church and nearby stave church museum would be a possibility.

Definitely grab the room in Flam and the car immediately. Hotel rooms in Flam can sell out very, very early.

The Flam to Balestrand and Vik express boat is public transit, which is needed at short notice by locals to make journeys, so very rarely sells out, and certainly not aeons ahead of time. Also for that reason, Norled don't open bookings way far ahead.

Between Balestrand and Bergen it also forms part of the Glacier excursion you are doing. It is a well known excursion from Bergen to do that Glacier cruise, changing boats at Balestrand.

As the majority of the Glacier cruise passengers are day trippers from Bergen then those bookings sort of run in time tandem with Norled's.

The early boat over to Vik especially is a commuter boat.

Apparently the tourist boat from Flam to Gudvangen is already booking for the whole of the 2026 summer season.

There also seems to be a misunderstanding about the Oslo to Myrdal train. That is also normal public transit, so does not sell out far ahead of time if ever. What sells out is the Myrdal to Flam connection. So when that happens the whole connection shows as "sold out".
The crush of tourists on the Myrdal to Flam train is why there is a special section of one car for locals who use the train. So, even if it's "sold out" there is room for the locals to turn up and go.
