My husband and I are trying to figure out the best time of year to travel to Scandinavia on the Rick Steves tour. We like temperatures in the 50s and 60s but, more importantly, we would like to avoid rain as much as possible. Any opinions on the best time to go?
Scandanavia is a vast area with respect to weather and climate. Just look at Norway's multiple climatic zones:

Norway is a Nordic country, but it is affected by the Gulf Stream, so
its climate is less cold than you might think, especially along the
west coast. However, the country is very extended in latitude, and it
has a rugged coastline, plateaus and mountain ranges, so there are
different climates to be taken into account.
If temperature is deciding factor July would be the best month or so it seems looking at when most Norwegians take there summer holiday. But the lower precipitation month is April. For example:

The Norwegain weather saying is worth repeating: There is no bad weather, only bad clothing.
I would go mid June through Aug and maybe a week or two into Sept. The summer temps will be a little more50/60 but very pleasant. And, of course, sun light is extensive. Should not be rainy.
I lived in Stockholm for a couple years and my favorite time to visit is July. The Swedish summer is just so beautiful and the days are long. The temperature is in generally the 70s in Stockholm in July.
The temperature will vary as you travel around the various places on the RS tour.
