Oslo does not have access to the most impressive fjords. For that, you need to do the Naeroyfjord ( Norway-in-Nutshell tour) which includes a train from Oslo, or depart from Bergen for the Naeroyfjord or Alesund for the Geirangerfjord and other fjords.
We took the Bygdøy ferry, from the Oslo Rådshuspladsen port, mostly for getting to the museums in Bygdøy, but the sailing was scenic. It wasn’t that long of a ride. From Bygdøy, we took the bus back to downtown Oslo. If you want a day-long cruise to multiple islands, I don’t know if there’s a boat you can charter for the day.
