I've been struggling to choose lodging in Bergen. Can you tell me what would be the best neighborhood for sightseeing?
Also is there a good route planner to help us maneuver their public transportation systems?
We stayed at the Grand Hotel Terminus, https://www.grandterminus.no/en/about-the-hotel/. As the name suggests it's around the corner from the train station and within easy walking distance to the light rail, bus line and ferry terminals not to mention restaurants, shops and other tourist attractions. But the real reason we stayed there is because its bar was reputed to have the largest selection of whisky. It was a wonderful 3 night stay. Large comfortable room and very nice breakfast.
I stayed at the Thon Orion a few years ago.
We walked everywhere from there and it's near a stop for the airport bus.

I stayed at the Clarion Hotel Bergen in the Bryggen area. Comfortable, good breakfast. Easy to navigate to everything on foot and it's close to the historic sites.
Thank you all so much! The route planner will be so helpful!
I have decided on an Airbnb in the Bryggen area and feel pretty good about that choice.
I'm sure I'll be back with more questions as I plan this trip!
Thanks again!!
