We will arrive in Bergen after a cruise in late Summer. Our plan is to take the Bergen train to Oslo. Can anyone recommend the best web site to reserve the Bergen train. I also saw that you can also detour off Bergen train to Flam train. Is this worth doing. If so, any suggestions about reservations or spending a night etc. Thanks
The short ride to Flåm is very scenic, but so is the main line Bergen to Oslo. If you have time, there are worse options than spending a night in Flåm.
For a great scenic experience, look into Norway in a Nutshell.

You don't have to take it as a tour and can book it yourself. As Badger said, spending the night in Flam is worth it.
But if you don't have the time you can experience Norway in a Nutshell in one day from Bergen to Oslo.
As an alternate, Finse is an extraordinary place to spend the night.
There's a hotel but the dnt mountain touring hut is plenty nice with a view to the nearby glacier from.the deck
And if you can, try to visit Flåm on a day when there are no cruise ships there.
Hi Jjif, we used this site to purchase train tickets from Bergen to Oslo - https://www.vy.no/en. It’s approximately a 7 hour trip and said to be one of the most scenic routes in Europe. We bought Komfort class tickets and it was worth the few extra dollars. Had reserved seats and free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. There is also a snack bar on the train to purchase sandwiches, cookies, etc. Reserve seats facing the direction of your travel for the best views. Very comfortable.
We like the Thon hotels in Norway. Nice, clean, centrally located, and great included breakfast (some like the Thon Orion in Bergen also include dinner). Sign up for their free loyalty program to save a few bucks.
Thanks to all for your insights. John
I would not recommend booking train tickets through third parties. There are several companies running trains in Norway and you can find them all at www.entur.no
But in short, Sørtoget runs the Oslo-Stavanger trains, Vy runs the Oslo-Bergen train (including Flåmsbana) and the regional trains in the Oslo region, SJ runs all trains north of Oslo.
