Bergen to Copenhagen by Boat (with fijords)?

We are beginning to plan a trip for August. My wife and I will be travelling with our 11 year old daughter. Flying round trip via Copenhagen. We are planning to drive through Denmark to Oslo and then drive to Bergen. Was hoping we could find a cruise from Bergen that would allow us to experience fijords and take us back to Denmark, maybe even as far as Copenhagen. Is such a cruise available?

Thanks.

If you drive from Copenhagen to Oslo with no ferry, you'll be driving mostly through Sweden. Otherwise, if driving through Denmark initially, you'd take a ferry from Hirtshals toward Oslo. The overnight ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo is a third option.

Then, ferry from Bergen gets you back to Hirtshals. You can do Hirtshals-Copenhagen in 6.5 hours by train or stop at LEGOLAND and a bit more of Denmark, if you did not cover it earlier.

Picking up and dropping off a car in different countries can be expensive, but I saw examples recently for Scandinavia that weren't bad.

Hello Bob. I do not recommend driving a car in any part of this trip. Ride in trains. Ride in trains in Denmark. Ride in a train from Copenhagen to Oslo. Ride in trains from Oslo to Bergen, except the "Norway in a Nutshell" fjord trip part. (Turn off from the main railroad at Myrdahl, and return to the main railroad at Voss). When you depart from Bergen, fly from the airport of Bergen to Copenhagen. That might require a transfer at airport of Oslo.
