Bergen sleeping recommendations

My husband and I are travelling to Bergen in July. Are there any housing recommendations?

Without knowing what your requirements are, we stayed at 4 Thon hotels during our 2½ weeks in Norway in 2023. All were very nice, comfortable and quiet.

In Bergen we stayed at the Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz. It was in a wonderful location, staff was pleasant, wonderful breakfast buffet and the in room amenities included a coffee maker and mini fridge.

In August 2024 my daughter and I stayed at the Thon Hotel Bristol and loved it. The location was ideal as it was quiet, but just a block or so from the fish market area.

In May we stayed at the Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz in Bergen. The location is unbeatable, one block from the colorful buildings and waterfront Bryggen. Breakfast is truly incredible and will fill you for most of the day. Several hot dishes, cold cuts and cheeses, yogurts, cottage cheeses, nuts, seeds and dried fruits, fresh fruits and vegetables, dozens of crackers, breads and pastries. Our room was small, so if you want a little space ask for something above most basic rate. Enjoy!

Ditto on great experience at the Thon Rosenkrantz in July. The breakfast was wonderful, friendly staff, and the location was close to most major sites. Walking that is. We walked everywhere.

I've stayed at both the Admiral and the Havnekontoret and liked both.

We also stayed at the Raddison Blue, and it was almost perfect. Location was unbeatable, nice rooms, incredible breakfast spread. One surprising issue: No aircon…and we were there during an unprecedented heat wave (locals were whining and complaining about the heat). They gave us a fan, but it was pretty warm in our room. if your stay is in July, I’d look for a place with aircon (nowadays).
