Bergen in late November

Hi all,

Anyone been to Bergen in late November?
How much did you like it at that time and would you recommend? What were your favorite activities at that time?
Was the city still pretty vibrant?

(p.s. I have been to Norway before at that time of year...so weather is not an issue per se. But Oslo vas very ''alive'' I thought...just looking for comparison)

Takk!

I visited in late October once. Had a great time, though it seemed like I was the only tourist in town as I had the Art Museum, and the sites at the Bryggen district literally to myself. Bergen is a University town so it's very lively in the city center in the evening till the early morning hours.

Thank you Michael! I deal well with crowds...but having a museum to myself (possibly) sounds great also.
Oh I forgot it is a university town...thanks for the insight! Did you take the Fløibanen funicular ride or do anything special that you would recommend? Did you take the train from Oslo to Bergen or drive?

You're welcome Val. I arrived at Bergen at the end of the Nutshell journey. Spent a day and a half there and flew out to Amsterdam. I also visited the Aquarium which was a bit more crowded with locals but enjoyable. My favorite memory of Bergen being able to see Lawrence of Arabia on the big screen at the modern cineplex in the city center. Not sure why they were showing it but it was an amazing experience!

Hi Val,

I love Bergen in November. I have the added benefit of family being there, but one of the things that I like is that it's not as busy with cruise ship passengers as it is in the summer and I feel like I can do things on my own time a bit more. A lot of things are still open, and the view from Fløyen is really nice when there's a dusting of snow.

Enjoy your trip

Chris

I know Micheal...I saw Breakfast at Tiffany's for the first time this Summer in Luxembourg City..it was magical.
One of my favorite memory from there.

Thanks gentlemen for the Bergen info. Still researching since I am doing a multi city Euro trip and have to swing by Canada on the way back. May be going in December now. (Last minute solo traveller).
Lucky you to have family there Chris!!! A bit jealous!

Thanks again.
