I'm looking for the best way to get from the Bergin airport to the Augustin Hotel. Google Maps can't help. There are 2 of us and we have a roll on and a day bag a piece. We will arrive June 9th in the early afternoon.
There are several efficient and easy alternatives for how to get from
Bergen Airport Flesland to Bergen city center. Bergen has good public
transport services with both the Airport Bus Flybussen and the Bergen
Light Rail (called Bybanen in Norwegian), as well as taxis going
between the airport and the city center. The cheapest way to get from Bergen Airport Flesland to Bergen city
center is to go by the City Light Rail (Bybanen). It takes about 45
minutes from the Airport to Bergen city center and it costs only NOK
38 for an adult and NOK 19 for a child.
From Flesland Airport: Light-rail to Byparken. Walking distance, 700 metres.
Airport bus to the fish market. Walking distance, 550 metres.
Hi Brian, St Augustin is walkable (1/4 mile) from the bus stop near the tourist information (TI) building, which is next to the fish market near the Bryggen area. From our experience, Norwegian public transport (trains, bus, ferries, trams) run as scheduled -wonderful. You may miss the bus if you're a minute late, no kidding. The following map shows you exactly where a regular bus would drop you at stop E. https://www.visitbergen.com/dbimgs/Bergen-Airport-bus-map-to-the-city-center.pdf
Your 3 public transport choices: express bus (not sure where it stops in Bergen); a bus with 3 -4 stops in Bergen (it takes you to the stop mentioned above) and, finally, light rail. Your Bergen card provides a 20% discount; seniors and student discounts too. You are able to buy tickets on line or at the TI.
We stayed on Strandgarten (near the St Augustin) and took the bus at 5:30 or 6:30 AM to the airport from that stop. - so convenient and efficient. https://www.flybussen.no/billett/#/reise/fra/bergen-flyplass/bgo
Make sure you wear comfortable shoes because Bergen is a very walkable city, hilly! Your location is ideal - easy walk to Bryggen, TI Centre, city centre, Grieg Hallen, museums, etc. Safe, quiet area. Pack a rain jacket; you'll experience sun and rain in a day regularly.
The Norwegian people are absolutely wonderful; smart, kind, and welcoming.
Have a great trip,
Patricia
Thank you Edgar and Patricia,
If the schedule doesn't change, I found the route: Bergen Lufthavn flybuss to Torget gets us about 1750 feet from the hotel. Seems like a good option when dealing with luggage.
