We will be staying in Bergen for two nights. Are there any recommendations for good accommodations and some sights to see given our limited time in the city? Thank you.
In late August we stayed at the Thon Hotel Bristol Bergen and loved it. Very centrally located, great breakfast, and overall just a great stay. We took the funicular up and hiked around up there. The fortress is interesting, as we did that on a prior trip. There is also a silver factory near that, called Arven, which was quite interesting and had a lot of great things to purchase. The fish market is interesting and a good place for lunch.
I was in Bergen in late July and stayed at both Thon Orion and Thon Rosenkrantz, both were really nice. The Rosenkrantz was a little closer to the heart of the old part of town. I enjoyed the tour that was offered by the Bryggens Museum. It’s also a nice city to walk around various neighborhoods. As the other poster mentioned, the fortress and the funicular are good sites to see.
Thank you very much for your help. Most appreciated.
