In mid September I will be flying Delta from Seattle to Oslo with a 1 hr 45 min layover in Amsterdam. I would like to take my collapsible trekking poles with me in my carry on as I plan to do some hiking. I know if I do, my carry one will need to be checked. My flights are all Delta/KLM. I am not sure if my checked bag goes on to Oslo (I don't collect it) or if I have to collect it and take it through customs and security with me. If the latter, I am concerned about my turn around time in Amsterdam. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks
If you are all on one ticket, the checked bag will be checked through to Oslo, and you will not see it in Amsterdam. If you are on separate tickets, you will have to retrieve your checked bag in Amsterdam and re-check it.
Yes, one ticket with the AMS connection would have your bag checked through to OSL. Airline would transfer the bag. I've done the Delta SEA-AMS-OSL a number of times with skis with out a problem. At worst (happened once), the skis missed the connection and were delivered to my Oslo hotel that evening. The plus was not having to carry the skis on the train from Gardenmoen to Oslo.
Thanks all! I also called Delta this afternoon and checked about the turn around and checked bags. No problem-o!
