We rented a car and did the RT cruise of Geirangerfjord before going to Trollstigen. (From there we headed north to the Norwegian Sea).
I have a virtual acquaintance whose family owns the farm, Knivsflå, located about 800 feet above the fjord. When the children were outside they had to have a rope around their waist to keep them from falling over the cliff. They used a trolley system to haul supplies up from the fjord. No one has resided on the farm since around 1900, but it was used for cattle, sheep and hay until about 1960. This farm is next to the Seven Sisters (Knivsflå) waterfall. It's a beautiful fjord but you will take a fjord cruise on the RS tour, right? I really enjoyed the view of the fjords from the roads above more than being on the water. I enjoyed Geirangerfjord, but I didn't feel the need to take any other fjord tours in the 18 days we were there.
I thought Trollstigen was amazing!
