Hi has anyone traveled to the Alesund area ? We are hikers and love nature and heard it's amazing. We also are very interested in History and local culture.
we would love to take the train from Oslo to Bergen - and then head to areas North.
We have 3 weeks it's our first trip to Norway.
Would love any suggestions
We are open to driving, ferries , train, flying - interested in people's ideas on transport and what to see - the transportation connections are a bit overwhelming!

We rented a car last September (round-trip from the Oslo airport). I would recommend driving.
I love Alesund. My grandmother immigrated from there, so I had always wanted to visit there. We were only there a couple nights of our 18 days, but I hope to go back.

Hello yes! - the Hurtigruten ferry looks great - but the over night trip to Alesund is not bookable yet that I can see.
They only seem to offer 3-4 day trips. I heard if they don't sell those tickets then they open it up for overnight trip?
I may have this wrong-
Also would love to see any itineraries!
