Any suggestions for reasonable accommodations in Oslo, excluding Hostels
I am not sure what budget you have. I spent a lot of time looking over many options before selecting Scandic Karl Johan for 3 nights in May. I chose a superior double for 289 for 3 nights includes breakfast. Great location. They had a smaller room for 249 for 3 nights. Since most of the negative comments on booking.com and trip advisor were about how small those rooms were, I went with the superior. It has a couch and a queen size bed. It was a non refundable price. I booked it on booking.com. I am not staying there until May so no first hand experiences. I also found some nice apartments on Airbnb and was going to book one of those until I spotted the Scandic. It is still on sale if you are interested.
Wife and I stayed at this airbnb place in May: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/9728030
Great location, nice people. We'll do it again if possible.
Take a look at Thon Hotels , Thon Hotel Panorama would be a good choice , a favorite of ours . https://www.thonhotels.com/hotels/norway/oslo/thon-hotel-oslo-panorama/
I also book the Thon hotels: https://www.thonhotels.com/hotels/norway/oslo/
Thon use to segment their properties from "Budget" and up. "Budget" properties were more basic in terms of amenities, but clean and well maintained. I usually stay at the Thon Astoria because it is the closest to Oslo S. I travel heavy with skis and gear so a close proximity to the Oslo S is a benefit both in arriving from OSL and departing to the mountains.
It was several years ago, but I had a nice stay at the Hotel Continental. The cost was reasonable in the summer, although hardly a budget option. The location is ideal (right by the Nathional Theater and around the corner from city hall).
