We are a slightly older couple & have been told by a friend who was there a few years ago that it is a hassle to carry a suitcase up, over & down the many steps at the Myrdal station to get to the Flam railway. We would be coming from Oslo. We would appreciate the experience of others about this.

That connection looks easy, but I'd usually expect stairs somewhere during the trip, which is a good motivator to pack light.
