A few hours in Finse to see the glacier?

We will be taking the train from Bergen to Oslo this summer, and I've just heard about Finse which is a stop along the line. Instead of staying there overnight, I'm wondering if it makes sense for us to get the morning train from Bergen, hop off at Finse at 10:14am for a few hours, and then back on the 2:34pm train to Oslo.

Is it possible to walk from the Finse train station to the foot of the glacier and back within that time frame? We'll have two young kids in tow, so aren't allowed to do a proper glacier hike tour, and wouldn't be able to rent bikes unless they have a trailer attachment.

Any advice from someone who knows the area would be much appreciated!

I did the walk from the Finse DNT hut.
It glacier looks nearer than it actually is...looked at two online guides and they reckon 90 mins either way.
It is a place apart Finse,"the southernmost artic place".
I was there in August and it was mid 30s F..at night

Thank you Richard! So you think it would be doable within a 4 hour window, or did you feel like the 90 minute hike in still didn't get you close enough to the actual glacier?
