A few extra days in Norway

Beloved Spouse and I have a few extra days in Norway, first week of September.

All the family is going to join us for Oslo, Flam (Voss) and Bergen. They're all heading home from Bergen.

The two of us are going to stay on for a few days. I was thinking of exploring Inland/Mountainous Norway, (Jotunheimen?, Lillehammer?). We're mid-sixtys, reasonably active/mobile. We like exploring, doing "stuff". No daredevil adventuring. Renting a car is not out of the question. We need to end up in Oslo to catch our flight back to the US.

Any suggestions?

When renting a car you can explore the inland area up to Røros incl. scenic routes Valdresflye and Rondane. If you like sculptures this can be of interest.

If you end in Bergen you can take a Hurtigruten or Havila ship to sail up the beautiful coastline, e. g. until Tromsø.

Another alternative is to explore Lofoten and Vesteralen islands. With some luck you can see Northern Lights up there - I had seen some in early September 2016.

When you say "a few days", how much time is that? It's hard to give advice without knowing how much time you have available.
