My husband and I are planning a 3-week to trip to Norway in September. Our current plan is to take the train (Nordland Line) from Trondheim to Bodo, then ferry to Moskenes. Should we rent a car in Bodo or Moskenes? Can anyone give us advice on how to best spend three days in the Islands? Is it possible to spend all three nights in one location and see the highlights by car from there, and if so, which hotel is best located? Lastly, we are foodies—any restaurant recommendations in Bodo and on the Islands?

I recommend to travel by Hurtigruten or Havila ship port-to-port from Bodø to Svolvær. After a night there you have good chance to rent and return a car there.
Basically visitors travel the main road up and down and explore the islands. Some book a rib boat trip to Trollfjord with eagle feeding.
