I know that there is a great itinerary for a 3 week driving tour of Scandinavia in rick's Scandinavia tour book, but i was wondering what advice folks would have of what to not do if we only have 12 days. we will be driving up from Hamburg and then driving to Berlin for a wedding at the end of our Scandinavia trip.
We did a great road trip starting with two days in Oslo, then up through Lillehammer (stopped at Maihaugen), one night in Andalsnes, then down through the Trollstigen Road and beautiful fjord country, stayed a night in Solvorn then on to Bergen for two nights, then over to Eidfjord for a night, then down to Valle for three nights, then back to Oslo. That took 10 days and I would've loved to have added another night in Solvorn. It all depends on what you want to see!
Versus this 3-week itinerary, the easiest parts to skip are Helsinki and all the listed stops in Sweden. Save those for another trip. I haven't counted up all the days, but as far as direction, traveling counter-clockwise looks best for you, such as:
Hamburg
Aarhus
Hirtshals-Kristiansand ferry
Norway
drive 7 hours plus break time from Oslo to Copenhagen or take DFDS overnight ferry
Copenhagen
Roskilde
to Berlin via Rodby-Puttgarden ferry
