We will be spending several days in Amsterdam in May—no children. Our mode of transportation will be train and/or bus. Is it more interesting to visit Zaanse Schans or Kinderdijk?
Thanks!
If authencity for you is of importance Kinderdijk is to prefer. It’s an impressive site to see the 19 windmills together in their original setting and still are standby as auxiliary pumps in case extra draining capacity for the surrounding land is needed. The site is to reach from Rotterdam or Dordrecht by waterbus, what is fun to do. https://www.kinderdijk.com/plan/directions-address/
In Zaanse Schans the mills are relocated from all over North Holland and form together an open air museum. Nevertheless they are original and actually wind driven machines for the industrial production of paper, dyes, flour and so on. So if this is of interest go to Zaanse Schans, easy to reach from Amsterdam Centraal railway station by bus.

Thank you!
We were disappointed in Zaanse Schans and went to Kinderdijk on our next trip to the Netherlands, no comparison. Kinderdijk was a wonderful experience.
