Has anyone stayed here and what was your experience like?
I have read some of the reviews and one of the complaints was the walk to and from the ferry . it seems that a shuttle bus has been added which takes you to and from The Yotel to the ferry stop. There is still a walk but a short walk.
YOTEL Amsterdam Noord sounds very interesting.
I haven’t stayed there, but had reservations there for a long weekend in mid-March 2020 (we know how that went). A friend had reserved there.
She was coming from the States and cancelled first, and I still thought I might be able to make the trip, so I changed my reservation to a hotel in town, for exactly the reasons you mentioned. Not that there were reviews at the time, but just looking at a map I could tell that it was going to be a pain getting to and fro.
My 2 cents worth, and this might be worth only 1 cent: I’ve stayed at the Yotel in London‘s Gatwick airport several times, but not at one in Amsterdam Noord. The location inside the Gatwick terminal is convenient, and there are restaurants/pubs/airport shops close by. The room is tiny, but it works, and it’s not outrageously priced. It allows a nap and a shower when having a long layover, rather than just hanging out in the terminal waiting area.
I understood that Yotel rooms follow the same design, but maybe the Amsterdam location is different - don’t know. If access is a problem, that might be an issue, but for a clean room and bathroom, albeit funky and tiny, Yotel is worth considering.
Thank you both for two very valuable responses.
My trip is not until next August but I find it valuable and enjoyable to always begin my research early. I am learning about Amsterdam and Central Station and the airport from someone who knew almost nothing a few weeks back.
I am flying into Amsterdam to take a cruise but spending two nights pre-cruise. I want to stay at a hotel near Passenger Terminal but still need to get to the hotel from the airport and want to be conveniently located so as to play tourist but I am also on a budget.
I have learned that Noord always requires the ferry coming and going.
There is a Holiday Inn Riverside Noord that offers a good price and gets very high reviews including for location. The walk to and from the ferry is about 5 minutes and most persons found it pleasant and not any problem at all.
For me, the YOTEL is out this trip but i am glad to have discovered this brand.
I might still consider The Holiday Inn but am going to first seek a hotel closer to Central Station.
