We have a week booked in Haarlem in April. I'm a beer lover and there are some very interesting places to try (Bierlokaal de Uiver looks especially good), but my wife doesn't like beer and prefers wine. Are there any good brewpubs that have both? Thanks.
As I recall, nearly every place has options other than beer, including wine. de Uiver is really more of a general bar, that also serves some food, and a host of other drinks. Even the local brewery, Jopen, serves food and has wine. I have not been to Haarlem for a few years, but it looks like there are new breweries there as well. I think only a "tasting room" associated with a microbrew will not have wine.
While in Amsterdam, stop by Proeflokaal Arendsnest, my favorite bar in the area. They serve only Dutch beers, (excepting Heineken and Amstel) have 50 or so on tap, more bottles, just a great small, old bar. If the weather is nice, you can sit by the canal with a beer (I seem to recall they may have wine as well).
I am similar to your wife, in that i prefer wine. However sometimes I want to experience the brew pub. I will order a flight of beer. That way i can try new beers and if I really don’t like one, my husband always seems able to finish it!
We frequently stay in Haarlem but It has been a couple of years since we were there. During the last visit found a great, new brew pub that was located in an old church. It was SW from the square and the name played off of it's location. I am sure your hotel can direct you. We just stumbled across it when we were walking. The beer and food was very good but don't remember if wine was on the menu. I will look through some old notes to see if I can find the name.
My husband and I spent a week in Haarlem in April. He likes beer and I like wine. We never had a problem finding drinks for both of us.
