Flying into Amsterdam next Monday. Plan to take train from airport to Centraal Station. Any idea as to where we then catch a tram to to the Movenpick Hotel? Could you please recommend a travel app for best way to navigate around the city? Thank you.
A number of us here on the forum use the CityMapper app.
I don't know where your hotel is located, but the hotel I was in was close to a bus route that went to the airport.
Or you could use Google Maps. I prefer go use Satellite view (and street view when available) for greater detail. Depending on the time that you input, you may have a choice of tram or bus.
Assuming the hotel you refer to is located at Piet Heinkade 11, City Mapper says catch tram 26 just outside the station, go one stop and walk to the hotel. However by the time though you walk all the way through the train station to the tram stop, it takes the same amount of time to walk to the hotel by exiting out the back side of the station (bus/ferry side).
The best source may be the hotel itself. Often it's posted on their website, or just email them. Have a great trip!
Pat is correct. From the Movenpick's website:
Take Tram Line 26 From Amsterdam Centraal, board tram line 26 heading towards IJburg. Get off at Muziekgebouw Bimhuis. Once off the tram, you'll see the Movenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre directly across the road from the tram stop.
There are several stops in front of the station, so be sure you're using the right one for line 26.
I've stayed there and would not recommend trying to walk from the station to the Movenpick - the street layout is very confusing if you aren't familiar with the area.
The tram stop will be in the group to your left as you leave the station.
