I have a free day in Amsterdam tomorrow (4/30) and am looking for suggestions. I have been to the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, the Hermitage museum, the Anne Frank house, canal cruise and Keukenhof. What would be a good activity?
What about a day trip to another town/city? We adored Delft as well as Gouda when we went in February.
Otherwise, still in Amsterdam is the botanical garden which is stunning. There is a cat museum not far from there either. Very quirky, lol.
If you want to stay in Amsterdam I highly recommend the church in the attic. https://opsolder.nl/en/museum-our-lord-in-the-attic/
What about renting bicycles in VondelPark? Visiting the Dutch Resistance museum. Day trip to Giethoorn or Zane Schans. Walking tour of Amsterdam with Freedam Tours or another company and/or visit the street markets on Albert Cuypstraat and try different Dutch food like stroopwafel, poffertjes or have a stamppot lunch at Moeders.
When our food tour got cancelled, we went to the Royal Palace. We really enjoyed the history lesson and the architecture (audio guide).
I second Jill’s suggesting of the church in the attic, very interesting or Derek’s suggestion of Zaanse Schans (some say it is too touristy but I really enjoyed it). Or you might go on a day trip to nearby Haarlem or Leiden. I didn't have time for Delft, Hoorn or Utrecht but have heard good things about them as well for a day trip.
Thank you for all the suggestions! I went to the botanical gardens and Church in the Attic. both were walkable from my hotel near Centraal Station. I enjoyed both, although the climate house at the botanical gardens is unavailable due to construction. Thanks again!
Edited to add: also toured the Royal Palace, so great suggestions all around!
