You can have PCR test within 48 hours with results and Antigen test within 24 hours of travel. With increased testing in USA, it is almost impossible to get a PCR result back within 48 hours. The Antigen tests that I am aware of are home style tests and these seem not to be acceptable. What is acceptable?
The home tests are not acceptable by the Dutch government, as I spoke with someone yesterday at the embassy via Whatsapp. They said any "officially" administered Antigen test was acceptable, as long as it wasn't "self administered" . I cannot find a local source for a PCR test (rapid results in 24 hours not guaranteed, but normal PCR tests are taking 72 hours or more to get results) so we're having to push our luck and go for rapid antigen test at a local urgent care facility. Local Walgreens/CVS/Pharmacies are also offering them, but I can't get one close by at a time that will work for my flight. We fly out on Oct. 2 and I'm antsy!
Also not very happy about the reports that my American vaccination card won't be accepted in the Netherlands as valid proof at cafes, restaurants, etc. I'll do what I have to do, as we're spending a month there so my husband can finally see his family again after two years away. I just wish there was a corona check app for us, too!
