Weather in early October

Just wondering what to expect weather wise in early October. Climate change makes me not rely on traditional seasonal forecast charts. Last time in Europe was in 2019 Spain in October and very hot and then Portugal was mostly rainy, but still mild temps. Any tips would be appreciated.

Do you really expect an accurate answer? Who knows???? We have always had good weather in Oct so that is a preferred month to travel and we still do. You dress for a range of temperatures and weather. A rain jacket is always pretty smart as is a couple layers of clothing that you can add or subtract as needed. The Netherlands could be cool, rainy, with short days.

We were there at the beginning of last November. The weather was cool in the mornings and evenings, and warm and sunny in the middle of the day. There were a couple of midday rainstorms.

I don't know how typical or helpful that is, but, basically, be prepared for wet weather, just in case, but use layers so you can remove them when the sun comes out.

The weather in October in the Netherlands can be anything from rainy and cold to dry and sunny and everything in between and all in 1 day. You basically need to prepare for anything except snow and ice.

The Netherlands, like the UK, has a maritime climate with warm summers and mild winters. There is no dry season and rain can be expected at any time of the year. October tends to experience Atlantic storms coming in from the west so be prepared for wet and windy weather however it can also be warm and sunny. A maritime climate is very difficult to predict and forecasts, even on a daily basis, can be inaccurate. Bring a waterproof jacket and layers, you won't need heavy winter clothing.
