We will be traveling to Amsterdam in April. What is the best way to tour the tulip fields and gardens? We will be staying on a houseboat and will be touring Amsterdam and the area for three days. From there we are going to Bruges and are debatinig renting a car from Amsterdam on the last day and tour Keukenhof on our way out of town. Would having a car be a benefit? Or we can train it to Bruges.
Thanks for any suggestions...
The best way to get to Keukenhof is to take the train from Amsterdam Centraal to Schipol Airport. From the Airport there are direct buses to the gardens.
To get to Bruges after you're done with the gardens, simply take the bus back to Schipol and take the Thalys high-speed train from the airport train station to Antwerp (sometimes Brussels)and then transfer to a local train to Bruges. There are lockers available at keukenhof (free) and in the public areas of the airport terminal (paid).
The Thalys uses airline style pricing so the sooner you book the cheaper it will be (90 days allowed). Check schedules/fares and books tickets at this site:
