Visiting Belgium after terrorist attack in Brussels

My husband and I will be in Amsterdam in Sept and plan to do some day trips around the Netherlands. We also thought we would visit Belgium, but after the Brussels attacks, we are wondering about safety in Belgium. It seems to be a hot spot for terrorism. Has anyone heard about any cautions against travel in Belgium? If not Belgium, do you have any other recommendations of where to visit?

Statistically speaking the chance of getting involved in a fatal car accident is much greater than falling victim to a terrorist attack. But, as Wonderful remarked, the point is whether you would feel comfortable or not. Personally I wouldn't hesitate one moment to visit Brussel, but that's very subjective.
If you stay in Amsterdam, Antwerpen is a good destination for a day trip. Just over the border, but totally different. Some 1 hr 15 mins from Amsterdam by the fast Thalys service (make advance reservation for considerable discount) or some 2 hrs on the intercity (schedules on www.nsinternational.nl/en).
But, if that fits your plan, I recommend you to stay a few days in Belgium. Gent would be a excellent base. Interesting city in itself, and close to Antwerpen, Brugge and Brussel.

You have to go with the odds in life. The odds of you being impacted by a terrorist attack are extremely slim. You are more likely to be involved in a car wreck of some other random violence here in the USA. Go live your life.
