Tulip viewing without the crowds. Possible?

Hi, any recommendations for tulip viewing without the crowds? I concede to the smaller fields, but want to experience the authenticity of the area without rubbing elbows with other tourists. Does Haarlem have tulip fields?

Is the tulip auction worth a side trip? We will be using public transportation.

Will be a one-day trip from Amsterdam, Monday, April 24, sadly, well aware missing the tulip parade the day before.

The tulip fields are south of Haarlem. You can rent a bicycle there and quietly explore the region, e.g. at the Rentabike.
An alternative is to get the train to Hillegom, from where it's a short walk to the fields between the railway station and the village of De Zilk.

Thank you so very much! We love Haarlem & didn't realize we could view tulips so close to Amsterdam.
