TSH Amsterdam West

Has anyone stayed here? For two nights, the cost is only $218 on the website. Compared to other hotels, it's about half-price. I realize it's a couple miles outside the downtown, which probably accounts for some of the price, but it's less than 1/2 the cost of my other options. What's wrong with it?

TSH stands for The Student Hotel. It’s a hotel that accommodates both short and long stay visitors and also houses students. This concept plus the fact that it’s located outside of the city center, makes it less attractive to the average tourist and the room rate reflects that. If you’re okay with the concept and the location, there’s nothing wrong with it.

You'll be about 20 minutes away from central Amsterdam by public transportation, less by bike if you rent one. That's the only drawback I see.

At first I didn't realize it provides accommodations for students as well as tourists, but I figured that out before booking a refundable reservation. Their concepts of appealing to a variety of guests from different economic backgrounds and being outside the tourist district work for me. Thanks guys.
