TripKey registration shut down until June

I just went to register on the TripKey site, only to find a scrolling message across the top stating that registration is closed until June 4th. So I guess I won't be using TripKey during my May trip. I'm wondering why they encouraged me to sign up yesterday - although it's possible the Facebook person didn't know the company was doing this.

I'm not sure how it will affect those who have registered already, but I would definitely have a back-up plan!

well, this is disconcerting; here i thought my transportation would be convenient--but rather poor TripKey website does (eventually) tell me I can't register/buy until June 4--by which time Amsterdam will be just a lovely memory...

For those of you who know Amsterdam:

Do I just buy tickets for transportation whenever i want to ride something to somewhere? (first ride will be from airport to Train Station...)

Do all stops for all types of vehicles have ticket counters? or ticket machines? or can I buy a ticket--somehow--when I board? I'm gathering that these will just be one ticket for one ride...?

anybody know a good website to get train/tram/bus schedules for Amsterdam and environs? thanks,

For Schiphol airport to Amsterdam Centraal you take the train, which run every 10 mins or so. Buy ticket from the machine or at the window.
The GVB site gives you all information on transport within the city. Bus and tram are cashless, so you must have a functioning debit or credit card to buy a ticket on board.
But don't forget Amsterdam is a very walkable city. The best way to enjoy the city is on foot.

If Tripkey isn't available, you might consider buying a day pass if you plan on taking a lot of tram rides on the same day--it could save you money. If you're going to be in the Netherlands for 5-6 days and plan on using buses or trains for a day trip, the OV-chipkaart is an alternative to Tripkey, but there are more hassles in keeping it topped up, and then getting a refund at the end of your trip in the Netherlands.

Also per TripKey email to me on 4-26, Hertz/Schiphol is no longer a pickup point. I posted the whole email under a new topic.

I consider myself open minded but I have had doubts on this Trip Key since it’s start up. Periodic monitoring on this site on Trip Key reports continue to re enforce my belief that I should continue to sit on the sidelines as Trip Key works through their growing pains. Maybe, someday, Trip Key or some iteration of will become a good choice for travelers in The Netherlands, but until then, I will continue to happily-and easily-use the OV chip card.

"the OV-chipkaart is an alternative to Tripkey,"

Tripkey IS an ov-chipkaart (of the kind "anonymus business card"). What you are using is probably a regular anonymus ov-chipkaart.

The business type kind of card is widely used in NL, but as the name suggest, mainly by companies (or better: their commuting employees). The biggest problem Tripkey seems to have is logistics (stock and distribution), not the functioning of the card.
