Trip to see the tulips

We will be in Amsterdam and would like to go see the tulips at Kukenhof and take public transportation. Can you tell me the best route?

Thank you. Yes got the directions off the website but was just wondering if anyone had other suggestions or further details. Sounds like you just follow the masses.

I think the easiest route will be to take the train to Schiphol airport (not included in the Combi Ticket) and then take the Keukenhof Express. It leaves in front of the main airport entrance.
Afterwards you can use the same Combi Ticket for the Keukenhof Express to Leiden. It arrives at the railway station, from where it is a 5-minute walk to the centre. Interesting historical city without all the crowds which can sometimes be a little bit too much in Amsterdam. Back to Amsterdam is no problem: direct trains leave every 15 mins (via either Haarlem or Schiphol).

I visited Keukenhof last April and bought the combi-ticket which I used on a Sunday, taking the airport express bus (numerous stops all over town, and I had already used it to get to my hotel when I arrived) to Schiphol and then the special bus to Keukenhof; at around noon I waited maybe 5 minutes in a short line to board the bus, they seem to arrive about every 5 minutes. I spent perhaps 3 hours in the garden then caught the bus back to Schiphol--again, a 5 minute wait around 4 pm or so. Very simple process.
