Hello! I'm traveling to Amsterdam with my five (yes, FIVE) children all of whom are under 10. We are going to need an extra set of hands as soon as we arrive. Do any of you know of a babysitter or nanny service in Ams I can use whilst there?
Also, side note. Should I bring my double stroller? Is there a craigslist equivalent where I can just buy one when I get there? How do people with twins get around?
According to your other post, you will be in both Amsterdam and Paris and need child care/nanny service in both for your five children. Would it not be better to find a care giver to travel with you from home .... someone you know and can trust? Even on the flight to Europe it would be so much easier with a helper. It may even be less costly and undoubtedly safer.
I also agree about taking a trusted hand with you.
I cannot imagine traveling with one really young child, much less five. We didn't take our daughter on an international trip until age 11, and the Anne Frank Haus made such an impression on her then.
I know several nannies and they travel with the families all the times. It is much better to hire someone before hand who is familiar with your parenting style and someone who the children feel comfortable with. Even if it is just your regular babysitter, it is an extra set of hands.
Since you say you will be traveling "over the holidays" you might be able to find a local college student (or someone in your area who goes to college away but is coming home for vacation time) When my daughter was small we traded living space for childcare, and took a trusted babysitter along on several vacation trips to Hawai'i.
Yes, it did occur to me to bring one of my nannies and I even had a ticket for one but they all have family obligations at this time. I've exhausted my resources here and I want to hire someone for just a few hours here and there. I've travelled internationally with my children before.
If you know of an actual service where I can hire someone that is the information I'm seeking.
Thanks!
In that case, I suggest you contact the hotels in both cities and see if they can help, you. By the way, I loved the phrase "one of my nannies".
Lol , I loved that line too !
Sorry can't help , but I think contacting hotel ahead of time is a good idea . It will easier to find a Nannie / helper in Amsterdam who speaks fluent English than Paris ( fluent being key word) so if you are lucky you could see if one from there would travel to Paris with you too.
Angelina, is that you?
