Traveling to the Netherlands with human ashes

Hi all,

I will bring my mum’s ashes to the Netherlands (according to her will) with my on a flight from Hong Kong to the Netherlands. Checked with the government department and they said besides the necessary papers the ashes has to be kept in a box sealed by the cremation office. However, the cremation office (from Hong Kong) said they never have done the sealing and cannot help.

Has anyone have experience or hear about it? Any advises is greatly appreciated!

"Checked with the government department and they said besides the necessary papers . . . ." - Which government? I hope you mean the Dutch government. Some countries have strict laws about disposal of human remains. I don't know about the Netherlands, but I read recently abut someone who fell foul of a German law which says only authorised undertakers are allowed to handle human remains.
I do know human remains must be sealed cross a border, and have paperwork, even if it is a land border. You can't simply carry them yourself across a border.
