Trains from Amsterdam airport to Bruges

We are traveling to Amsterdam in April 2026. Arrive at the airport (Schiphol). Looking for information on train service to Bruges and back to Amsterdam several days later. Since we are flying into the airport, we are not sure what time we will be available to board the train. Can train tickets be purchased the same day as traveling to Bruges ? Can you recommend a train service company ? What about discounts cards ? Thank you in advance. Mike

Read up on European train services on the Man in Seat 61. For info on trains from Amsterdam to Bruges: https://www.seat61.com/trains-and-routes/amsterdam-to-bruges-by-train.htm

By all means, given all the uncertainties around arrival times and Immigration Control times, wait until arrival to buy your tickets, at the airport train station. Expect to change trains once or twice, depending on the train you select.

seat61.com can answer all of this. You can even email Mark, the owner of the site, and he will answer your questions. It's a great site for all questions about trains in Europe.

What you should do is go to www.nsinternational.com and buy a ticket for Schiphol to Brugge. You can safely buy this ticket in advance provided you:
- Buy a full flex ticket that starts on an "Eurocity Direct" service. You have a choice of a one change route via Brussels, or a two change route via Antwerp.

This ticket is good for one trip on the Schiphol - Brugge route on a train of your choice (as long as you do not get on Eurostar). So yo are fully flexible. Doing it like that saves you have to find the ticket offce after you've emerged out of arrivals, and you also save yourself the service charge they levy there.

For Brugge - Amsterdam book with either nsinternational or b-europe. The trains will be the same. Here booking in advance is advised as you can make some big savings buying mid-flex or non-flex tickets.
