Age is not relevant, unless you’re traveling with kids, because the Netherlands doesn’t have a train fare discount for those over 65.
What is relevant information in order to help you, is what day trips you plan to take exactly.

Several since we have 10 days on the ground.
Giethoorn, Volendam, Yerseke, Leiden, Amsterdam to name a few
