Train info

possibly looking to fly into Frankfurt and take speed train to Amsterdam. Might be easier and less airline points. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Download the DB Navigator for official train schedules. You can travel directly from FRA, the station is Frankfurt Flughafen. There are direct trains in just under 4 hours. Ticket prices are cheaper in advance, but risky in case of plane delays. You could select the more expensive ticket that allows you to take any train that day. Reservations are an additional amount.

Depending on your time of arrival, you could also consider booking a non-flex ticket for later in the day, departing from Hauptbahnhof (meaning 'main station'). Then your plan would be: (1) Fly into Frankfurt airport, (2) purchase ticket on arrival for the local train towards Hauptbahnhof; no reservation required, (3) Spend some time in downtown Frankfurt, (4) Take the train towards Amsterdam from the main station.

(so, just to make sure, note that "Flughafen" (airport) and "Hauptbahnhof" (main station) are different stations.

The high-speed train to Netherlands is a direct connection. The stops in NL are Arnhem, Utrecht and Amsterdam. You could consider basing yourself in Utrecht as it is the main railway hub in Netherlands with fast connections in pretty much all directions -- including of course Amsterdam and the Amsterdam airport.

But what if didn’t want to spend any time in Frankfurt just get off plane and get on train to Amsterdam. Which would be the best?

in that case I suggest the higher speed ICE to Amsterdam, taking about 4 hours. Because you don't know what flight changes will happen between now and your flight, nor how early or late you will land at Frankfurt nor how long border formalities and luggage retrieval will take - just get a ticket for the next Amsterdam train after you land and get on that one. It will be full price, but discounted tickets come with restrictions including tying you to a particular train.

The suggestions above were more to save money and break up the trip, but if you want Amsterdam right after arrival that's pretty much my suggestion.
