Train from Amsterdam to Brugges

I will be traveling from Amsterdam to Brugges in April and wondering if anyone has taken that journey by train

I assume you do not have tickets yet?
You have 2 options.
Slightly quicker but probably more expensive for an April trip is to take Thalys high-speed train from Amsterdam Centraal to Brussels Midi, then a train to Brugge (which may not show Brugge as a destination, but Knokke or Oostende).
Cheaper, but a bit slower and less convenient, is the Intercity train from Amsterdam to Antwerp Centraal, then a train to Gent Sint Pieters, then another train to Brugge.
Tickets sold either by NS International (Dutch Railways) or by B-Europe (Belgian Railways).

If you know your date, book ahead!

Done it several times, and in several routes.

You really have two options, Fast train to Brussels (Thalys) then regional train to Bruges or Regional trains all the way, changing trains in Antwerp and Ghent.

Thalys obviously costs more, but despite getting to Brussels quick, you lose some of that gain on your way to Bruges. The difference between regional trains and fast trains is 30 to 45 minutes, not worth the cost to me, but if you would like a 2-3 hour stop in Brussels, then the fast trains make sense.

For tickets, you can buy ahead on NS International, if you buy early, you can get a ticket for 29 or 39 euro depending on the day. The ticket is good for any regional trains that day, Thalys tickets are specific to a train. Overall the ride is pleasant, some people do not like changes, but you will have them anyway, and the Antwerp station is worth a stroll around in itself, or the town worth a couple hours if you wish (or a week).
