Hi, for a visit in early April, I found a train from Amsterdam to Alkmaar. But how do I get from Alkmaar to Zaanse Schans? I tried booking a train from Alkmaar to Uitgeest (and then transfer to Zaanse Schans), but could not find a train. I know from Zaanse Schans to Amsterdam can be done by public transit. Please advise, and thanks!! Karen

You can not even book Dutch domestic trains. Train (indeed with connection in Uitgeest) runs every half hour. Buy a return ticket in Amsterdam to Alkmaar. You are allowed to break your journey. Use the NS rail planner for schedule and prices.
