Tours from Amsterdam to The Hague

Any recommendations for a good tour service or prersonal guide for a one-day trip from Amsterdam to The Hague?

Most people would just take a direct train from Amsterdam to The Hague and explore The Hague on their own.
Is there a specific reason why you want a guide? What do you want to see and do in The Hague?

It is lovely small city, easy to see on your own. No tour is necessary.

Thanks for your comments. We were thinking of a guide or organized tour since it'll be our first time there. With your input, knowing it's something we can probably handle on our own gives us more flexibility. We look forward to receiving other input.

I should have added - any suggestions on things we need to definitely see and do? Also, any suggestions for restaurants, etc. for our trip?

Do you have Rick Steves Amsterdam & The Netherlands guidebook? He has a very informative chapter on The Hague with easy to follow arrival directions, information on museums in the city center including the highly rated Mauritshuis Royal Picture Gallery and restaurant suggestions for lunch.

“ any suggestions on things we need to definitely see and do?”

What you should see and do depends on your interests. What do you like to see and do? Also, why did you decide to go to The Hague in the first place? There must be something there that caught your eye?

We loved the Kunstmuseum so much that I based my kitchen design on it. Every time I look at my mustard, burnt orange and steel grey cabinets I think of the museum. We are great lovers of Mondrian and the De Stijl art movement and we were in heaven for a few hours.

We also enjoyed the Mauritshuis and "Girl with a Pearl Earring" was on display there when we visited.

If you are at all in to art, particularly the Dutch masters, you should definitely visit the Mauritshuis. In particular, there is a room that houses three of Vermeer's rare works—including The Girl With a Pearl Earring, and View of Delft.

Do a bit of research on the Vermeers. I know the Girl with Pearl Earring went home to The Hague recently but the other two are probably still at the rijksmuseum in amsterdam as part of their amazing Vermeer exhibit.

The Girl with the Pearl earring has returned to the Mauritshuis, but View on Delft and Diana and her Nymphs remain in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam until June 5, 2023

It sounds like you want a personal guide. If Rick Steves has private Amsterdam guides reach out, tell them what you are looking for, they may do it or know others who will. I used viator in Beijing China for one day personalized tour before COVID; the company is worldwide, try them. Picked up at hotel, had a driver and prearranged agenda of city stops with tour guide. AirBNB experiences also have local people that do tours, usually the one day local thing, not sure if any do what you’re looking for. You could reach out to hosts who do full one day tours. I would recommend visiting the Peace Palace in The Hague. You must prebook for tickets, limited tour days/times, worth it.
